Abstract
The results of a retrospective observational study aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of a therapeutic diagnostic pathway for the management af diabetes mellitus 2 are presented within the article. The diagnostic therapeutic pathway was implemented between 2007 and 2010 within the Province of Varese. Clinical, pharmaceuticals and behavioural variables were assessed and monitored on a biannual basis. The research, conducted by CREMS in collaboration with the Primary Care and Continuing Care Department of the Local Health Authority of Varese, shows how chronic pathologies are one of the most importatnt areas in which diagnostic therapeutic pathways should be implemented.
