Abstract
Clinical risk in hospital settings emerges from complex interactions among organizational structures, professional practices, and decision-making processes. The contributors examines clinical risk management as an organizational phenomenon, highlighting the role of safety culture, distributed competencies, and governance arrangements. Drawing on evidence from Italian healthcare organizations, the analysis shows how learning-oriented approaches, integrated data use, and managerial involvement support proactive risk mitigation. Clinical risk management is thus framed as a strategic lever for improving care safety, organizational resilience, and system sustainability.
