Abstract
The national research assessment exercises (2001-2010) show the weakness of Italian research results in the field of management and business administration. In the last few years there is an ongoing rapid adaptation to the standards defined by the formal evaluation processes. But this paper argues that it is useful deeper reflection for the improvement of this area of studies. First of all, it is important to consider the critical contributions of management and organization studies at international level about the current common approach to research evaluation. In conclusion, the article points out the value of a pluralistic perspective considering the impact of research in respect of different stakeholders.
