Abstract
The request for transparency within the healthcare sector is due to the importance of two different elements: the growing request for health services and the availability of limited resources. This leads to an increasing need for evaluation, which can be defined as a global and systematic multidisciplinary activity performed following a path of description, evaluation and judgement. Within the Italian context, and from the legislative point of view, there is an increasing need for evaluation to support the application of the "Performance Essential Levels" (LEP, I. 42/2009) and the "standard cost". The aim of this article is to be an operative and pragmatic contribution, giving a brief description of the tools available for an evaluation team. The study describes thirty tools each having different origins and levels of difficulty, showing the wide choice to perform an evaluation, optimising the use of the available resources and time.
