Abstract

Information in measurement Information quality and information quantity Intelligent measurement systems
The work analyzes the various components of information brought by measurement results, in particular highlighting the meaning and the role of semantic and pragmatic information present in measurement. It is suggested that several activities of the measurer, for example, calibration, are based on more-than-purely-syntactic information: a clear identification and formalization of semantics and pragmatics of measurement is therefore required to achieve actual intelligent measurement systems.
