Abstract
As a reaction to competitive and fast changing business environment companies rely on Technology intelligence which is an integrated process of collecting, analyzing and disseminating technological information to support decision-making. Technology intelligence is essential to any company regardless of size. Particularly, Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) would greatly benefit from Technology intelligence, as they have to respond to uncertainties and insecurities arising from development and appliance of new technologies dictated by Open Innovation. Despite there is a great deal of works on different aspects of Technology intelligence, the knowledge about how SMEs implement Technology intelligence practices is scarce. The available contributions mostly discuss and bring the perspectives of large and multinational companies, whereas the case of SMEs is still remaining uncovered in the state of art literature. The main objective of this work is to contribute to the current body of knowledge by investigating "how SMEs can/should handle with the process of Technology intelligence". Moreover, by applying a series of qualitative and quantitative methods, this thesis remedies several issues of Technology intelligence that are uncovered by the literature so far. This thesis enriches the extent of research in Technology intelligence and provides some examples and guidelines to management practice on implementing Technology intelligence activities in more effective and efficient way.
