Abstract
he learning process is one of the latest domains where information technologies, specifically those related to Internet, has found a widespread application. However, the so-called eLearning systems are mostly (and especially in their academic implementations) aimed at increasing the efficiency of the organization. This objective is fulfilled according to a model that has been used far before the advent of Internet technology: eLearning solutions are adopted merely as substitutes of traditional training activities. In this paper we suggest that a different approach shall be taken into account in order to better exploit the potential of ICT applied to the learning process. To prove the feasibility of such an assumption we introduce the eLearning system developed at Università Cattaneo, whose mission targets the innovation of training activities towards the increase of their effectiveness. In the paper we describe the strategy that implement this mission, in its didactic, technological and organizational components. Finally, we briefly discuss the main outcomes of a survey where 370 Cattaneo's students assess the results achieved through the eLearning system.
