Abstract
The research on the Circular Economy is marked by a significant asymmetry between Global North and Global South. Kenya is committed to promote a circular transition, through the promotion of policy, regulations, and private sector initiatives. Two critical sectors for the Kenyan economy, plastic waste management and second-hand clothing business, were analyzed through a comprehensive literature review and empirical field work. Main findings reveal that still exist main constraints hinder this shift: fragmentation of the regulatory framework, inadequate infrastructure, and low social awareness. Liabilities also stem from the overconsumption trend of the Global North and asymmetries in the agreements regulating global trade.
