Abstract
This article aims at verifying the actual consequences of evaluation inside the characteristic processes (didactics and research) of universities. Until now, literature has dedicated little attention to this topic. The article proposed adopts a systemic framework of analysis, in the light of the complexity of the analysis of evaluation systems, and focuses on institutional an organizational impact inside the athenaeums. By means of an articulated research performed at the University of Trento, based on a wide range of primary and secondary sources of data, the authors have succeeded in isolating the typical effects of evaluation. From these outcomes, the authors suggest some observations regarding the impact of evaluation diffusion in academic activities. In particular, the research has highlighted the different outcomes related to didactics and research, induced by the different ability of evaluation to grasp the static and dynamic components of quality of the two activities.
