Abstract
The paper estimates an import for italian manufactures. A "general to specific" specification approach is adopted along with the requirement of a "balanced" estimated equation. Cointegration results are also presented. The main feature of the results with respect to previous works on the topic is the role of 'capacity' as a long run variable affecting imports.
